Ink + Print

The ink + Print exhibition showcases the work of three contemporary printmakers living and working in Somerset. (including me) Prior to this exhibition we had never met or discussed our work. This exhibition marks the beginning of our creative dialogue. We have already begun to discuss future collaborative  projects later this year.
Gemma Trickey’s discipline is linocut, generating decorative and elaborate compositions – taking inspiration from the Art and Crafts movement, medieval illuminated manuscripts and folk art. Her work winds a modern narrative in ink on paper, stories of buried treasure and folk songs, cut and printed in infinite detail. www.gemmatrickey.com
Carl Middleton puts a modern twist on the centuries old practice of letterpress printing – contemporary dialogue set in vibrant colour, layered in complex, analogue compositions. Overheard conversations, disregarded shopping lists and dictionary definitions are his inspiration. Affording a slow, contemplative textual narrative. www.carlmiddleton.co.uk
